Helicopter flights beginning statewide for F&G's big game surveys
Beginning in December, Idaho Fish and Game staff will use low-flying helicopters to count deer and elk populations. Flights are scheduled across the state including the Upper Snake Region into March.

Big game aerial surveys underway in Salmon and Challis
Wildlife biologists with Idaho Fish and Game are taking to the sky across the state to get a closer look at deer and elk numbers, including several low-level helicopter flights planned this week to survey mule deer in the Salmon and Challis areas.

F&G acquires additional public access in Bull's Fork
The Idaho Fish and Game recently finalized a land acquisition in the Bull’s Fork area east of Idaho Falls. The property adds an additional 1,552 acres to the Tex Creek Wildlife Management Area and is open to the public for hunting and trapping. The funds for the acquisition were part of a mitigation agreement reached between Fish and Game and the Bonneville Power Administration.

Magic Valley Region stocking schedule for December 2019
Hatchery personnel from Fish and Game’s Magic Valley Region will be stocking nearly 700 10-12” catchable-sized rainbow trout at the following locations during December. All stocking dates and numbers of fish are approximate and may change without notice due to water or weather conditions.

Cow elk found left to waste and domestic cow shot near Leadore
Idaho Department of Fish and Game is asking the public’s help regarding a cow elk that was shot and left to waste on private property west of Leadore in hunt unit 29. A domestic cow was also found shot in the area, which was later euthanized due to its injuries.

Public’s Help Sought in Elk Poaching Case
Fish and Game is asking the public for information regarding the recent poaching of two elk in hunt unit 40, just off the Mud Flat Road near Pole Creek in Owyhee County. The cow/calf pair was shot on or about November 22, and no meat was taken from either carcass.

Bonneville County approves annual road closures in Tex Creek
Bonneville County Commissioners approved annual road closures in and around the Tex Creek area to limit disturbance to wildlife. The closures will begin December 1 and remain in effect until April 15. County Commissioners began instituting these closures in 1996.

Forest Services announces annual winter closures for the Caribou-Targhee
The U.S. Forest Service has announced their annual winter travel restrictions for the Caribou-Targhee National Forest to protect wintering wildlife when they are most vulnerable.
