Southwest Idaho Otter Season Closes
Thursday, February 1, 2001 - 12:00 AM MST
By order of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, the river otter trapping season has been closed in Idaho's southwest region effective January 31, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. MST. The harvest quota of 27 otters has been reached. Under rules implemented by the Idaho Fish and Game Commission last year, trappers have 48 hours following the closure to check in additional trapped otters for tagging. The check in deadline for the southwest region's otter season is 1:00 p.m. MST on Friday, February 2. Following this deadline, any incidentally-taken otters must be surrendered to Fish and Game for a $5.00 reward. For more information regarding the otter season closure in southwest Idaho, contact the Fish and Game Nampa office at 465-8465 or the McCall office at 634-8137.
