Project Wild Workshops Scheduled

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game has scheduled two Project Wild workshops for teachers and youth leaders. Workshops will be held March 15 and 16, 2001 at Lewis and Clark State College (LCSC) in Lewiston, and April 27 and 28 at the University of Idaho in Moscow. The Lewiston workshop is scheduled for Thursday and Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The Moscow workshop is scheduled for Friday evening, 5 to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pre-registration and a $10 refundable deposit are required. One hour of graduate or undergraduate credit is available for participation. Class space is limited, so call the IDFG regional office at 799-5010 to register. Project Wild is a wildlife oriented, multi-disciplinary set of activities that develop awareness, knowledge and skills concerning the relationships between humans, wildlife and the natural world. The activity guides provided free of charge to participants provide new ways to use wildlife concepts to teach the basic subjects of Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Language Arts and other subjects. They do not take time away from established curriculums. Project Wild was developed in cooperation with teachers and is currently used in 50 states, the D.C., and seven countries. Over 70% of Idaho's teachers have received the training and materials to use Project Wild in their classrooms.
