Idaho Fish and Game

Portion of Upper Salmon River Chinook Fishery Closes July 19

idfg-sliebenthal
Fish and Game Director Virgil Moore has signed an order closing the Chinook salmon fishery on the upper Salmon River from the Highway 75 Salmon River Bridge (about 250 yards upstream from the East Fork Salmon River) upstream to the posted boundary about 100 yards downstream of the weir at Sawtooth Hatchery. The closure will take effect at the end of fishing on July 19, 2014. Fishery managers believe by July 19, the sport fishery in the upper Salmon River will have harvested the non-tribal fishery share of Sawtooth Hatchery Chinook Salmon returning to the upper Salmon River. The Upper Salmon River from North Fork to the Highway 75 Bridge will remain open until July 27, 2014. For additional rules including bag limits go to http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/fish/chinook/rules
