Hunter Education Classes Looking for Students

If your youngster's fall plans include one or more hunting trips, now's the time to get them registered for a Hunter Education or Bowhunter Education class. Registering for a class is now much easier and more convenient. Prospective students can now view upcoming classes on the Fish and Game website (http://fishandgame.idaho.gov). "We've made the process much handier for everyone," Fish and Game wildlife educator Dan Papp noted. "After reviewing the list of classes and determining which one best fits a schedule, the student can simply stop by our office at their convenience and register for the class. Waiting in line to register is a thing of the past thanks to this new system." A number of upcoming classes have many empty seats and Papp advises folks not to procrastinate. "Waiting to take a class until later this summer or early fall is a bad strategy," Papp said. "Class demand will be high at that time and you might not find a seat available." Instead, Papp recommends students register and take a class now while a number of classes are available. "There's a class for even the busiest schedule," Papp said. "Take a look on our website and then stop by and see us." By state law, persons born after January 1, 1975 must attend and successfully complete a hunter education course before purchasing an Idaho hunting license. Hunter education course fees are $8.00 per person and participants must be at least nine years of age to attend. Although not required, parents are encouraged to attend classes with their children and participate in the entire program.
