Fish and Game is asking the public for information regarding the recent poaching of a moose calf near Riordan Lake south of the community of Yellow Pine. The poaching incident occurred sometime prior to the 4th of July weekend.

Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) is offering a reward for information in the case and callers can remain anonymous. Contact CAP at 1-800-632-5999 twenty-four hours a day.

Riordan Lake is a popular destination for anglers, hikers and ATV riders. Several Lake visitors have already been interviewed, and officers are following up on a number of case leads. “It’s hard to imagine the circumstances where someone would shoot a young moose calf and leave it to rot,” conservation officer Jon Hunter commented. “If the responsible individuals come forward, their side of the story will certainly be taken into account. The other, less desirable option involves waiting until we knock on their door.”

Persons with information regarding this poaching case or Riordan Lake visitors who might have observed vehicles at the Lake trailheads between Thursday, June 30th and Saturday, July 2nd are urged to contact authorities. In addition to the CAP hotline, persons with information regarding this case may also contact the Fish and Game McCall office at 208-634-8137 weekdays or Idaho State Police at 208-846-7550 on weekends.
