Ririe Reservoir fishing update
Wednesday, July 21, 2021 - 11:16 AM MDTFisheries biologists completed their annual kokanee monitoring effort on Ririe Reservoir in early June. We estimated the second highest catch rates since our annual monitoring program for kokanee began in 2015. Anglers are also reporting excellent catch rates for Smallmouth Bass when fishing points, boulder drop-offs, and rocky, steep banks.

Man injured by grizzly bear after encountering a female with a cub
Friday, July 9, 2021 - 10:37 AM MDTA man was attacked by a grizzly bear early Friday, July 9, in the Kilgore area near Island Park in Eastern Idaho. The man was injured in the attack, but able to return to the cabin he was staying in and call 911. His injuries were not life threatening, and he was treated at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg.

F&G increases patrols at Cartier Slough to address littering and safety concerns

Thursday, July 1, 2021 - 12:17 PM MDTDry conditions around the state have made the potential for wildfires extremely high. “Our Wildlife Management Areas (WMA’s) are vital to sustaining wildlife and wildlife-based recreation in the region,” says Habitat Manager Rob Cavallaro. “Sand Creek and Tex Creek WMAs alone support 9,000 elk, 5500 mule deer, and 900 moose during winter. A catastrophic wildfire on these lands has the potential to significantly impact wildlife populations”.

Teton River access sites vandalized and a $1,000 reward is offered for information
Friday, May 21, 2021 - 11:03 AM MDTTeton County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho Fish and Game are asking the public for information regarding the recent vandalism of several access sites along the Teton River. Rainey Bridge, Teton Creek and Fox Creek West access areas all received damage.
