  • Mountain lion in tree in public park in Banida, Idaho

    Idaho Fish and Game relocates mountain lion from public park in Banida on July 18

    On July 18, Idaho Department of Fish and Game personnel removed a young male mountain lion from a public park in the small community of Banida in Franklin County.   The mountain lion had been spooked out of some cover on an adjacent property by a landowner and his dog before it ran up a tree.  The healthy mountain lion was tranquilized by Fish and Game and then released in a remote location in southeast Idaho the same day.

    The Southeast Region of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game is hosting a brand new public event this year aimed at getting hunters ready for hunting season this fall.  Whether you are an experienced hunter or hitting the field for the first time, make tracks to the Southeast Idaho Hunting University on August 3 at the Pocatello Trap Club located at 1442 Fortress Road (near the Pocatello airport).  From 10 AM until 4 PM, this free event will be filled with a variety of hunting-related activities, demonstrations, and presentations to help hunters prepare for fall adventures!

    Female-only hunter ed class scheduled for Pocatello

    Once again Idaho Fish and Game will be offering its Ladies and Girls Hunter Education Class at the regional Fish and Game office in Pocatello from July 8 through July 11.  This will be a fun and educational setting for female students who would like to earn their hunter education certification. The course will be taught by female instructors who are eager to share their knowledge and passion about hunting, safety, and ethics in the field.
