About the position
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is currently seeking a General Repair Mechanic in Nampa. This position will perform maintenance, service, and minor repair of vehicles.
General Information:
• This announcement will be used to fill the current opening at the Department of Fish and Game in Nampa. If you previously applied for a Mechanic position, you will need to apply to this announcement.

• This position is part-time, 19 hours a week with flexible hours, and non-benefited.

Responsibilities:
• Test drives and/or inspects vehicles and equipment for wear, damage or specific problems that might affect performance
• Checks lighting and charging systems for proper operation, and repairs as necessary
• Services vehicles and other motorized equipment with fluids, lubricants, and safety items
• Removes and replaces filters and batteries
• Cleans and maintains shop, tools, and equipment
• Prepares records and reports
• Windshield and glass installation
• Maintains pool car fleet
• Inspects and verifies that vehicles meet bid specifications
• May conduct small engine repair
• Operates vehicles to evaluate work required and/or performed

Qualifications:
Some knowledge of: the operation of internal combustion engines and related power trains, hydraulic, and electrical systems; servicing requirements and maintenance procedures for motor vehicles. Experience: interpreting and applying technical information contained in mechanical maintenance service manuals; listening to and visually inspecting vehicles to detect mechanical wear, damage, or reasons for failure; performing engine tune-ups and replacement of mechanical parts; adjusting and repairing mechanical systems such as brakes, clutches, steering components, shock absorbers, and lighting equipment; using common tools associated with repair of motor vehicles and equipment.
