About the position
The Southeast Region is seeking 1 Wildlife Bioaide (3.0 months) to assist with the regional wildlife management program in Pocatello, Idaho and surrounding area. This unique area offers diverse recreational opportunities including hunting, fishing, biking, and hiking.
Incumbents must be able to lift/carry up to 60 lbs. with occasional lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs. for short distances and work long, strenuous hours in extreme weather conditions with or without reasonable accommodations.
In addition, the Wildlife Bioaide will assist in multiple wildlife management projects, including but not limited to: Colonial waterbird nest counts and productivity surveys, banding and tagging pre-fledgling pelicans, remote camera retrieval/deployment for big game, and surveys for Species of Greatest Conservation Need. The Wildlife Bioaide will work as part of a team, and follow standardized protocols to collect biological data. Hazing activities require the successful applicant to have passed a hunter safety class and to be very familiar with ethical hunting practices and the operation of a shotgun.
The Wildlife Bioaide will also be required to participate in other wildlife and fisheries management activities as needed.
