Responsibilities: 
Work as part of the Clearwater Fish Production crew consisting of 12-20 people conducting various hatchery operations and projects. Assisting one of three fish culturists in the implementation of the day to day fish culture activities at the hatchery facility is the primary responsibility. Activities include but are not limited to; spawning of adult salmon and steelhead, egg and juvenile fish husbandry, implementing water and feed treatments, and other associated fish culture duties (cleaning and sweeping rearing containers, sample counts, weighing and feeding of fish feed, etc.). Work consists of a 30-40 hour work week, with some night and weekend work required.
Qualifications: 
College coursework toward BS degree in Fisheries, Wildlife Management, other related areas of study or equivalent knowledge that is typically gained through previous experience as a biological aide or fisheries data technician. Applicants should have some knowledge of; life history, anatomy, and ecology or various fish species; identifying various fish species; operating power tools and general maintenance and repair skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel as needed.
Extended travel will be required at times to remote facilities for trapping, spawning, and hauling fish. This position involves standing and working in cold water for up to eight hours per shift; lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and working in extreme weather conditions. Successful applicants need to possess excellent independent decision making skills.
