About the position

The Oxbow Fish Hatchery is seeking a Fishery Technician (benefited) to perform duties associated with trapping and spawning operations of steelhead and salmon at an Idaho Department of Fish and Game-operated hatchery. Applications will be accepted starting in January 2019, and start date is March 11. This will be an 8-month appointment, ending in November 2019.

General Information: 
With or without reasonable accommodations, incumbents must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work in and around water. Work may involve prolonged standing in all weather conditions. General work hours will be 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 07:00 AM to 04:00 PM. Weekend, after hours, and overtime may be required. Housing is available.
Routine duties will include but are not limited to: trapping and spawning adult salmon, incubation of steelhead and salmon eggs, monitoring fishermen below Hells Canyon Dam, maintenance of the facility, landscaping, data entry into spreadsheets, and assisting with written reports. There are opportunities to assist at other hatcheries and assigned regional work events with Idaho Fish and Game.
Must hold a valid driver's license. Coursework in a Natural Resource Biological Science curriculum is preferred, but not mandatory.
