About the position

The Salmon Region is seeking two (2) Fisheries Research Data Technicians (non-benefited) to conduct angler creel surveys during the fall 2018 steelhead fishery from Corn Creek to Salmon, ID.

General Information: 
Incumbents will work 40 hours per week. Work hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday through Monday with Tuesday and Wednesday off. The shift requires incumbents to work both weekend days. No housing provided.
Incumbents must be able to work independently, stand for long periods of time, hike over rough and rugged terrain, safely drive for multiple hours per shift, and work in adverse weather conditions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Responsibilities: 
Interview steelhead anglers with the goal of collecting information about angler effort and steelhead catch or harvest. Additionally, collect biological measurements and samples from harvested steelhead.
Qualifications: 
Applicants must be able to interact with the public in a professional and positive manner, work independently, drive for long periods of time under variable road conditions, and follow set protocols while accurately collecting data. Applicants should be detail oriented, self-motivated, and safety conscious. Must have a high school diploma or GED. Fisheries related experience and education helpful but not required. Must possess a valid driver's license.
