About the position

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game Magic Valley office is seeking to fill one 3 month and one 5 month, non-benefited Wildlife Technician position to assist the Regional Habitat Biologist with wildlife habitat management duties at Big Cottonwood and Centennial Marsh Wildlife Management Areas.  Primary responsibilities will include use of chemical herbicides for spraying of noxious weeds, irrigation of food and tree plots with hand lines and gated pipe, operating farm equipment and implements (tractor, disc, mower, etc.), fence maintenance, monitoring public use of WMA’s, grounds clean up and maintenance, and other duties as assigned by Regional Habitat Biologist.  Housing is available for both successful applicants.

General Information: 
Typical work week is Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week. On-site housing is available throughout the duration of employment. With or without reasonable accommodations, applicants must be able to tolerate extremely hot weather, work under adverse field conditions and be able to lift 50 pounds.

Work independently on the management of habitat at Big Cottonwood Wildlife or Centennial Marsh Management Area for the benefit of wildlife and the public. Additional duties may be assigned by Regional Habitat Biologist.
Qualifications: 
Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license. Ability to operate farm equipment (tractor and implements), chainsaw, ATV, 4x4 truck, etc., safely and competently. Knowledge of common irrigation and weed control practices are desired.
