About the position

The Sawtooth Fish Hatchery is seeking four (4) Fisheries Biological Aide (non-benefited) to assist with trapping, spawning and rearing of Chinook salmon in Stanley.

Dates Needed: June 4, 2018 through September 21, 2018, (dates may vary depending on candidates availability)

General Information: 
With or without reasonable accommodations, incumbents must be able to stand and work in cold water for up to five hours per shift; lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 60 pounds; and working in extreme weather conditions. Dormitory style housing is provided free of charge.

Incumbents will work 40 hours per week. Work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, occasional weekend work rotations will be required.
Assist in the trapping, spawning, and rearing of Chinook salmon at the Sawtooth Fish Hatchery. Perform routine fish culture duties such as feeding fish, cleaning and caring for fish rearing vessels, and maintaining grounds and equipment. Interact with the public in a professional and positive manner and assist with hatchery tours.

One position will also involve stocking rainbow trout in waters throughout the Stanley Basin; operating a four-wheel drive 3/4-ton pickup truck with bed mounted 300-gallon fish tank, providing daily care of fish to be stocked, perform fish sample count, determine fish loading rates, and maintaining stocking records.
Applicants must be able to work independently and follow set protocols. Applicants must be well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and safety conscious. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. Fisheries related experience and education strongly preferred, but not required.
