Individuals selected for this position will be required to work and stay 10 day stints at the Warm Lake site and then off for 4 days. A generous Per diem is provided. Start and ending employment dates may be negotiable.
Individuals will be responsible for all daily duties which help to ensure the proper and efficient operation of the South Fork Salmon adult salmon trap near Warm Lake. These duties include but are not limited to: processing trapped adult salmon, monitoring fish behavior in holding ponds, intense monitoring of river and weather conditions, cleaning fish tanks and ponds, building, grounds, and light equipment maintenance, giving facility tours to interested parties, and assisting regional biologists with monitoring and evaluation activities.
Individuals who have prior aquaculture or fisheries experience and/or are enrolled in or hold an associates degree or higher in a biology related field will be given preference. Individuals must have strong communication and record keeping skills and be able to work well independently or in a group setting. Individuals must also be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work in cold water for up to 8 hours per shift.
