This is a temporary 8 month benefitted position, housing is provided.
This individual will be responsible for all facets of the data collection at the McCall Fish Hatchery and at the South Fork Salmon River adult trap facility. This individual will also be responsible for entering this data into several department databases as well as assisting with all duties associated with the proper and efficient operation of both of the aforementioned facilities. These duties include but are not limited to: feeding fish, cleaning ponds and tanks, processing adult salmon, spawning and egg picking, observing fish for signs of stress and/or disease, and light equipment and grounds maintenance.
Individual must be at least 18 years of age and should be graduated from or enrolled in a fisheries or related biological AS or BS program at an accredited university and/or have prior experience in aquaculture. Individual must be proficient in Microsoft excel. The individual must also be capable of paying very close attention to detail, be meticulous at data collection, and be capable of working independently and as part of a team. Individuals need to be able to positively interact with the public and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Individuals must also be able to stand and work in cold water for up to 8 hours per shift. A valid state issued driver’s license will be required for employment.
