About the position

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game Magic Valley Office is seeking to fill one 4.75 month, non-benefited Wildlife Technician position to assist the Regional Habitat Biologist with wildlife habitat management duties at Niagara Springs Wildlife Management Area. Primary responsibilities will include use of chemical herbicides for spraying of noxious weeds, irrigation of food plots with wheel lines, hand lines and gated pipe, operating farm equipment and implements (tractor, disc, mower, etc.), fence maintenance, monitoring public use of WMA’s, grounds clean up and maintenance, and other duties as assigned by Regional Habitat Biologist. Employment dates are April 30 to August 31. Start and end dates are flexible.

General Information: 
Typical work week is Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week. Shared housing is available and will be discussed at the time of interview. With or without reasonable accommodations, applicants must be able to tolerate extremely hot weather, work under adverse field conditions and be able to lift 50 pounds.
Responsibilities: 
Work independently on the management of habitat at Niagara Springs Wildlife Management Area for the benefit of wildlife and the public. Additional duties may be assigned by Regional Habitat Biologist.
Qualifications: 
Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license. Ability to operate farm equipment (tractor and implements), chainsaw, ATV, 4x4 truck, etc., safely and competently is recommended. Knowledge of common irrigation and weed control practices are desired.
