About the position

Responsibilities include routine fish culture practices at a Rainbow Trout Brood Stock hatchery, record keeping, chemical treatments, water flow and quality monitoring, maintaining hatchery grounds, a public campground, and helping with other routine hatchery duties as required. Other duties include working on progressive projects requiring INAD’s (Investigative New Animal Drug), recirculating aquaculture systems, production of triploid trout eggs, process of providing mono sex populations of trout, and photo period manipulation to control spawning schedules.

Qualifications: 
Previous work experience and/or education in Aquaculture, Natural Resources or Biological Science preferred but not mandatory. Individual must be able to work well in a team environment and independently as needed, handle responsibility, follow protocols effectively, be organized, and be extremely detail oriented. Requires some mechanical aptitude and experience/skills sufficient to operate hand tools, power tools, machinery, pumps, and lawn care equipment. Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Applicant will be required to work in and around water. Irregular work schedules are frequent; weekend, holiday and evening work will be required. Applicants with hatchery knowledge and experience will be given preference.
