About the position

The Salmon Region is seeking three (3) Fisheries Research Data Technicians (non-benefited) to conduct angler creel surveys during the 2018 spring steelhead fishery from Corn Creek to Stanley, Idaho.

General Information: 
Incumbents will work 40 hours per week. Work hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday through Monday with Tuesday and Wednesday off. The shift requires incumbents to work both weekend days. Depending on work location, housing and food may be provided.
Incumbents must be able to stand for long periods of time, hike over rough and rugged terrain, safely drive for multiple hours per shift, and work in adverse weather conditions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Collect and record steelhead harvest and effort data from anglers using electronic data recorders, collect biological samples, and assist with data entry.
Applicants must be able to interact with the public in a professional and positive manner, work independently, drive for long periods of time under variable road conditions, and follow set protocols while accurately collecting data. Applicants should be detail oriented, self-motivated, and safety conscious. Good handwriting is a plus. Must have a high school diploma or GED. Fisheries related experience and education helpful but not required. Must possess a valid driver's license.
