About the position
The Rapid River Fish Hatchery in Riggins is seeking four (4) temporary Fisheries Biological Aides (non-benefited).
- Up to five months in duration starting immediately.
This position, with or without reasonable accommodations, require standing and working in cold water and for up to five hours per shift; lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 60 pounds; and working in extreme weather conditions. Weekend duty may be required. Housing is available. 40 hours per week.
Under supervision incumbent will perform duties associated with the care and rearing of Chinook salmon at an Idaho Department of Fish and Game-operated fish hatchery. Routine duties will include but are not limited to: trapping and spawning adult salmon, salmon egg and juvenile salmon rearing, maintenance of facility and landscaping, and other tasks as assigned.
Demonstrated ability to handle responsibilities and work independently. College coursework in a Natural Resource/Biological Science or related field is strongly preferred, but not mandatory. Previous fish hatchery experience is beneficial but not required. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to read, write, and compute simple math. Must have a valid driver's license.
