About the position

The Clearwater Region is seeking four (4) temporary Fisheries Biological Aides for Potlatch River Steelhead monitoring and evaluation 

Dates Needed:

  • Mid/Late May, 2017  – Mid/Late August, 2017 (dates are flexible)
General Information: 
With or without reasonable accommodations, applicants must be able to lift up to 60 pounds, pack up to 40 pounds for several miles, and walk up to five miles a day along stream banks and trails. Applicants must be willing to travel and camp in semi-remote areas, work in adverse weathers conditions, long days, and on holidays, weekends, or nights as necessary. Housing is not provided.
Assist in monitoring the abundance, distribution, and habitat use of steelhead in the Potlatch River Basin. Primary duties include: stream electrofishing, habitat monitoring surveys, recording data, and maintaining field equipment.
Applicants should have basic knowledge of anatomy, life history and ecology of steelhead. Preferred applicants are detail oriented and have the ability to work in a field crew of 4-6 people. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license. Additionally, driving trucks with trailers and ATV experience is preferred but not mandatory.
