About the position

The Anadromous Fish Screen Shop in is seeking a temporary Fish Screen Tender to work in the Stanley, Idaho area.

Dates Needed:

  • Incumbent will work during the irrigation season from May 15th until November 1st.
General Information: 

With or without reasonable accommodations, the incumbent for this position should be able to lift equipment, heavy tree limbs, and debris weighing up to 80 pounds an also be able to walk along and work from narrow planking over moving water; wade in water above waist level; climb in and out of concrete structures that may be up to four feet deep; shovel dirt and or mud for hours at a time; walk and work on slippery uneven ground; frequent travel and working alone in isolated areas in inclement weather conditions is required. Weekend work is required.


Operation and maintenance of fish screens, bypass facilities, and traps and related work; necessity of maintenance or repairs. Obtain and record canal and ditch flow measurements; records maintenance assessments of access roads, fish screen facilities and related equipment, operates light trucks, chain saw, weed cutters, hydro-seeders, chipping machine, and small hand tools.


Good communicative and interpersonal skills are required. Some knowledge of mechanical concepts necessary to maintain equipment used on the job; operation and maintenance of light trucks, specialized delicate instruments, chain saws, gas weed trimmers and light hand tools. Some knowledge about the operation and maintenance of different types of fish screens, National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) fish screen criteria and Idaho fish passage laws, irrigation practices is desirable. Applicants must possess a valid Idaho driver’s license.
