About the position

The Pahsimeroi Fish Hatchery is seeking one 8-month benefited Fisheries Biological Aide to work during the Steelhead and Salmon spawning and trapping seasons.

General Information:

Incumbents must, with or without reasonable accommodations, be able to work a variable schedule under adverse weather conditions, lift and carry/pack up to 60 lbs.  Housing is provided. Expect weekend rotations. 

Perform routine fish culture duties at a Steelhead and Chinook Salmon fish hatchery and trap. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: assisting with trapping and spawning of steelhead and spring Chinook, feeding fish and cleaning vats, data collection, loading adult fish for release or distribution, maintaining grounds and equipment, operating lawn care and landscaping equipment, pressure washing raceway walls, occasional report writing.

College coursework in a Natural Resource/ Biological Science or related field beneficial, but not required. Previous hatchery experience beneficial, but not required. Individuals with experience handling and identifying adult salmonids and collecting and organizing adult salmonid data will be given preference. Applicant must be able to work independently and as a team. Must be able to read, write, and compute simple math. Demonstration of good computer skills and technical writing ability preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a valid driver's license.
