The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) is seeking a dynamic, customer focused individual to fill a current opening for Technical Records Specialist 1 within our Fisheries Bureau at our Headquarters in Boise.

What We Offer: 

General Responsibilities:

  • Manages various permit applications (i.e. fishing tournament permits, scientific collecting permits) and collects data generated by permitted activities.
  • Acts as the Fisheries Bureau’s primary public point of contact, providing information and explaining Department policies, regulations, laws, services, and procedures to internal and external customers.
  • Serves as support staff for various projects and tasks.
  • Data entry.
  • Produces documents, letters, and reports using word processing software and equipment.
  • Researches a variety of sources to resolve problems.
  • Creates and maintains files.
  • Greets or screens visitors and callers.
  • Formats reports.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required.)

  • Experience monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors. (Typically gained by having at least one year of experience (or more) monitoring records systems, identifying problems and correcting errors.)
  • Experience researching a variety of sources to resolve problems. (Typically gained through at least one year of experience researching and compiling information in order to prepare reports that include recommendations.)
  • Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments. (Typically gained through at least one year of work experience with responsibility for reviewing documents or actions for compliance with laws, regulations, and/or policies or through explaining to others how laws, regulations or policies apply to specific situations.)
  • Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system. (Typically gained by at least six months of experience in a work setting which required data to be entered and retrieved in a database records system or other computer records system.) 

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in serving the mission of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, and will have knowledge and an appreciation for hunting, fishing, and trapping activities. Additional consideration may be given at the time of interview to candidates who have some knowledge or experience in hunting, fishing, and trapping.
