About the position

Springfield Fish Hatchery is a production facility responsible for rearing Endangered Species Act listed Snake River Sockeye Salmon. Springfield Fish Hatchery is seeking two (2) temporary Fisheries Biological Aide (non-benefited) to perform routine duties associated with fish culture and help in maintaining grounds and facility. 

General Information
Incumbents must, with or without reasonable accommodations, be able to stand and work in adverse weather conditions, sometimes working in cold water for up to eight hours per shift, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work all shifts including a weekend rotation and some holidays. Dormitory style housing is provided on site, but not mandatory. Most workdays are from 7:30am to 4:00pm and generally work 40 hours per week.
Qualifications
Applicants must be able to work well in a team environment and independently as needed, take direction, and follow protocols effectively. Applicants must be well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, responsible, and safety conscious. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. Fisheries related experience and education is strongly preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
Routine duties are, but are not limited to: weighing fish feed and feeding fish; cleaning and caring for fish in rearing units; data collection; data entry; sampling fish; maintaining grounds and equipment; operating landscaping equipment; power washing raceways; cleaning offices and hatchery facilities.
