About the position
The Upper Snake region is looking to fill 10 wildlife habitat technician positions. These 4.5-month positions start times will vary depending on WMA location and schedules of applicants. These positions will work as part of a team to perform physical and technical duties regarding wildlife habitat management on Market Lake Wildlife Management Area (MKWMA), Deer Parks Wildlife Management Unit (DPWMU), Sand Creek Wildlife Management Area (SCWMA), Mud Lake Wildlife Management Area (MLWMA) or Tex Creek Wildlife Management Area (TCWMA). Primary tasks include habitat improvement projects, water management, fence maintenance, conducting wildlife and vegetation surveys, noxious weed spraying, facilities management, conducting public use surveys, and coordinating volunteer projects. These positions will focus primarily on implementing the noxious weed management program. Duties include plant identification, plant surveys, noxious weed control, using and maintaining ATVs and herbicide spray equipment, exercising proper use and handling of herbicides, GPS/GIS mapping, and coordinating volunteer projects. Opportunities exist to participate in several other aspects of wildlife management.
