About the position
The Clearwater Region is seeking 2 Fisheries Biological Aides to assist in monitoring the abundance, distribution, and habitat use of wild steelhead in the Potlatch River Basin.
With or without reasonable accommodations, applicants must be able to lift up to 60 pounds, pack up to 40 pounds for several miles, hike over rough and rugged terrain along stream banks and trails, and work in adverse weather conditions. Applicants must be willing to travel and camp in semi-remote areas. The work schedule varies and includes long days and working on holidays, weekends, or nights as necessary. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and possess a valid driver's license.
The primary responsibilities of these positions are to work as part of a crew to conduct stream electrofishing and habitat monitoring surveys, record data, and maintain field equipment.
Applicants should have basic knowledge of anatomy, life history and ecology of steelhead. Preferred applicants are detail oriented and have the ability to work in a field crew of 2-4 people. Additionally, driving trucks with trailers and ATV experience is preferred but not mandatory.
