Directions: From Rockland (S of American Falls), at blinking traffic signal, S on ID 37 for 2.1 mi; R (W) on unsigned King Ln; zero odometer; mi 2.3 L on Cedar Ridge Rd; mi 3.4 walk primitive side rd that heads L to top of Cedar Ridge; leave all gates as you found them; mi 4.1 stay L on Cedar Ridge Rd; mi 6.3 Cedar Ridge Rd ends at junction of Kuper Rd and Green Canyon Rd; turn L onto Kuper Rd to return to ID 37 or turn R onto Green Canyon Rd for 6 mi (high clearance vehicle
needed).
Description: Bird the first 1.5 miles of Cedar Ridge Rd and look for Western Scrub-Jay, Gray and Dusky Flycatchers, Juniper Titmouse, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Mountain Bluebird, and Chipping and Brewer’s Sparrows in Utah juniper habitat. Scan farmland for Sharp-tailed Grouse, Horned Lark, and Vesper Sparrow. When hiking the primitive side road, look for Ash-throated Flycatcher, Pinyon Jay, Black-throated Gray Warbler, and Lark Sparrow. Along Green Canyon Road look for Calliope Hummingbird, Virginia’s and MacGillivray’s Warblers, and Green-tailed and Spotted Towhees. In the forests, expect
Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers, Red-naped Sapsucker, and Tree Swallow. 50 to 70 species are possible. Surrounding land is private.
