These proposals and comment forms are split into sections by animals in each region: Deer, Elk, Pronghorn, Mountain Lion, Black Bear, Gray Wolf. 

For each section, please leave comments relative to the information on that page. There is a comment box for "General Comments" on the contact page.

Only changes to hunts (including hunts that are removed or added) are shown on this proposal. All other hunts are proposed to remain unchanged from 2017-18.

Upper Snake Region

Proposed Changes for the 2019-2020 Big Game Seasons

WHITE-TAILED DEER

  • No changes

MULE DEER

  • No changes (unless the Caribou Population Management Unit (PMU) Deer Survey results warrant some kind of changes)

ELK

  • Provide increased hunter opportunity, reduce cow elk numbers to get population back in to management objectives, distribute harvest more evenly across entire elk population, reduce issues related to hunter behavior, increase safety, provide better hunting opportunity, and to manage elk depredations

PRONGHORN

  • Addition of 50 tag Doe/Fawn hunt in a portion of Unit 63 this change is to address increasing depredation issues and a population that seems to be increasing, also provides additional hunter opportunity

BLACK BEAR

  • No changes

MOUNTAIN LION

  • No changes

GRAY WOLF

  • Establish consistent seasons and opportunity for wolf hunting and trapping across numerous units
