In October 2021, Idaho Fish & Game detected Chronic Wasting Disease for the first time. Two male mule deer tested positive, both of which were harvested in October in the Slate Creek drainage (GMU 14). It is now mandatory all hunters who harvest a deer, elk, or moose in Units 14 or 15 provide IDFG samples (head/lymph nodes) for testing.
