Status of Rulemaking

This negotiated rulemaking is published in the April 6, 2022, Idaho Administrative Bulletin.

Those interested in participating in the negotiated rulemaking process must either attend the below-scheduled meeting or identify themselves to the agency via email to or mail to Amber Christofferson, P.O. Box 25, Boise, ID, 83707 by May 10, 2022.

This rulemaking action is to consider rules regarding mandatory hunter, trapper, wolf trapper, and archery education, and regarding mentored hunting. Agency review indicates renewal of current rules is appropriate, with some editing and reorganization to improve clarity and reduce duplication.

Additionally, the agency is contemplating a mandatory mountain goat gender identification-training program for holders of mountain goat controlled hunt tags to support harvest preference for male goats for population sustainability.
