Site Location

Directions: I-15 Exit #67; NW on 5th St for 0.5 mi; L (W) on Fredregill Rd; zero odometer; cross 4th St; stop sign at 0.2 mi; L (S) on S 2nd Ave through Ross Park and past zoo; mi 2 makes a 90 degree R turn; cross rr track; L at mi 2.4 into Edson Fichter Nature Area; greenway follows Portneuf River.

Description: The Portneuf Greenway begins north of Pocatello, just south of the Simplot plant. Breeding birds are plentiful along the trail. Species include: Canada Goose, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, Wilson’s Snipe, Sandhill Crane, Black-chinned Hummingbird, Loggerhead Shrike, Warbling Vireo, swallows, wrens, and sparrows.
