Site Location

Directions: From US 30 in Soda Springs, follow ID 34 N for 11 mi; R (E) at mp 69.9 on Blackfoot River Rd; zero odometer; drive 10.4 mi to the L turn in the rd; stay on Blackfoot River Rd; rd is gravel in 0.5 mi; pass Mill Canyon campground at mi 13.7; mi 14.7 Blackfoot River WMA; re-zero odometer; at mi 1.5, turn R (S) on Diamond Creek Rd (FR 102); mi 8 enter the Caribou-Targhee NF; mi 16.9 keep to R; follow sign for FR 102; at mi 22.6, 2 CHOICES: 1) to return to US 30; stay R (W) at mi 22.6; follow Georgetown Canyon Rd; stay L at the fork; follow Stringtown Rd to US 30 in the town of Georgetown. 2) continue to the Elk Valley Marsh; L (SE) at mi 22.6; follow signs for Crow Creek; S on FR 111 to intersection with FR 147; L (E) on FR 147 to marsh (see site #32).

Description: Scenic mountain creeks bordered by aspen trees and surrounded by coniferous forest. Sandhill Crane, Canada Goose, and a variety of dabbling ducks can be seen at Diamond Creek during the breeding season and early fall.
